Everystudent School Assignment Part 1
-----------------------
Everystudent's Battle of Darkness
Darkness spread across the world she lived in.
Light barely shining through.
The every student walked,
And stumbled,
For years on end through this.
For seven long years had she struggled to see in the black of night.
It spanned for miles,
Touching one town and another.
It spanned across three homes,
The closet of which had been almost completely lost to her in the dark.
It spanned for more than seven years of her life,
That she will never get back.
That pain, a suffering to immeasurable to bear any more,
Had exhausted her of almost all her resources.
When the smallest light would shine through,
Breaking the darkness like tiny cracks on a sidewalk,
A tidal wave would come,
Smashing her against rocks and trees;
Anything it could to remind her who's in charge.
To remind her that she has absolutely no control.
When hands reached out to help,
So did the arms of darkness,
like a Kraken but much more deadly.
It would suck her back in,
Chomping at those she'd wished to hold close,
Forcing their disappearance from her life.
In desperate times she would call out,
For help or for friendship,
But the screams of pain would be shrouded.
They would be muffled and manipulated.
She would scream for someone to "Save me",
But the darkness wouldn't let the words be known.
"I'm fine" would be spit out instead.
Altered and flipped in it's head
So no one would know what is truly going on.
The days turned into weeks.
The weeks turned into months.
And those months we're turned into years of darkness.
An ever growing darkness.
Until finally,
One light,
Stronger than all the rest,
Began to break through.
To crack the walls,
And break the floor.
She thought it wouldn't be possible,
That something like this could break the hell she'd been stuck in.
But it did.
They did.
EveryBand broke through the darkness.
They shown light to the shadows,
And illuminated her world in glorious hues of purples,
And pinks,
And blues,
And greens.
And over time they would bring more of their friends,
To bring more colors to the darkness.
But no matter how many,
They always shone the brightest to her.
At times, the darkness would fight back,
Pushing it’s hardest to get them through the gaping whole from which they came from;
But it never wins.
They push back harder,
And stronger,
And with more feeling than one would ever truly express.
They won't let the darkness win;
Not for her,
And not for anyone else.
They stand seven strong,
The exact number of years this darkness has held a knife to her neck.
And they beat it down into submission,
Allowing her to breath,
To see what the world has to offer.
The darkness will always try,
It will always growl and bark like a rabid dog,
And spit horrid things into every student’s mind,
But now that she knows of powers far greater than the darkness,
Nothing it says can harm her again.
